Kabir The Mystical Poet From India

Sant Kabir is considered to be one of the greatest poets as well as mystics ever born in India. He believed that human beings are equal and being one with God is the ultimate aim of every individual. His love and devotion towards the Supreme One clearly reflects in his poetry. The Holy Guru Granth Sahib contains over 500 verses by the great saint, Kabir. The verses or dohas of Guru Kabir are still read by people with awe and admiration

Early Life

As per the life history of Saint Kabir, he was born in 1398 AD. It is said that he was found floating on a lotus leaf in a tank in Benaras by a Muslim weaver. The weaver took the vulnerable child under his care and following the traditional manner, gave him the name of 'Kabir', meaning 'the great one'. Even at a young age, Kabir displayed enormous spiritual talent.

Meeting his Guru

Kabir always wanted to become a disciple of Ramanand. However, since he was a Muslim, it was next to impossible for him to get initiation from a Hindu. So, he took recourse to a trick. Ramanand daily went to the bathing ghat for his pre-dawn ritual ablutions. Kabir lay on the steps of the ghat in such a way that Ramanand stepped on him. Shocked at this incident, he chanted 'Rama! Rama!'. Kabir said that since he had received teachings from him, in the form of the words 'Rama! Rama!', he was Ramanand's disciple. Impressed with the intelligence of Kabir, Ramanand took him as his disciple.

Guru Kabir ke Dohe

The hallmark of Kabir's works consists of his two line couplets, known as the 'Kabir ke Dohe'. The Dohas reflect the deep philosophical thinking of the poet saint.

The Philosophy of Sant Kabir

Sant Kabir believed in the Vedantic concepts of atman. He always advocated the Impersonal Aspect of God (Nirguna) and therefore, was against idol worship. As per his view, all human beings are equal and the societal caste system that is so widely prevalent in our country is fallacious. He said that true guru is the one who can be attained through direct experience. The common ways of realizing God, like chanting, austerities, etc, are worthless.

HOW CAN I ????????

How can I describe the beauty of my master ?
when my eyes are covered with the curtains of Maya

How can I sing praises of my master ?
when my tongue is busy gossiping

How can I hear the sweet shabad inside me ?
when my ears are busy listening to the worldly chats

How can I see his radiant face inside me ?
when my eyes wish to see the worldly play

How can I praise lords work ?
when I am busy praising work done by me

How can I say I am his true disciple ?
when I don't follow what he says

How can I say that I love him more than anything else ?
when I cant dedicate 2.30 hrs of a day

How can I say you have done injustice to me by punishing me ?
when i have committed the crime

How can I say give me more ?
when what I have is more than enough for me

How can I ? How ?
what I should only say is forgive me
forgive for my deeds forgive me master

Have an eye of mercy and grace
and forgive AMAN your little soul cries

ANTAR KI AWAZ

Yeah akhaen roye zaar zaar
kar ke aapko yaad baar baar,

Har saas leti hai aapka hi naam
har dhadkan ruk jati hai dekhke
aapka roop vishal,

Hoto pe naam aapka,
Aakho ko bhi intezaar aapka,

Kano ko chahiye sirf aapki hi awaz,
Aab aa bhi jao na karvao aur intezaar,

Darshan dekh aapka mein dhaan ho jao,
Duniya se phir aapna moah shudao,

AMAN ke dukh dard saab jaye baag
jab AMAN sunhe antar ki awaz.

SMILE

one smile
enough to blow away
years of misery.
one smile
and I melt at your feet.
one smile
and my heart bursts with fullness .
one smile
and i feel so near to you .
one smile
and all i can do is to thank you.
one smile
and I know I am taken care of .
One Smile
And the journey becomes more soothing..
One Smile
And the purpose becomes more clear..
one smile
and my life fills with joy.

WHY NOT ME ??

Life is full of up`s and down and it will continue to be so,
But remember things will never remain the same ,
they will definitely change
The dark will be replaced with light
and all the wrong things will turn out to be right
Take these hard moments as your test
which will help you to become best
have full faith on master
and then life will not have any disaster
Face the situation with patience & courage ,
and you will have his grace
Our destiny is already made by our past actions { karma's}
and We have to follow what destiny says and try to live in his grace
Be happy with what is happening and be thank full to him
who knows things could have been worst than this??
Remember he is the one who knows what is best for us
and so it is for us to live always in his will so that grace is always showering on us

CRY OF A SOUL

Early morning hours of silence my heart calls out for you master
Repeating your name master
what it wishes is to have a glimpse of you master
But as the time passes out minds starts distracting & concentration is lost
thoughts are dancing and heart & mind are very restless
My soul cries where are you my master ? where are you ?
Why so much darkness ? where are you ?
show me your light master I beg for your mercy master
only your mercy please have mercy
I m helpless have mercy give me your grace
remove this darkness with your radiant face
My soul is feeling so empty master cant you really hear it`s cries for you master
I need you please have mercy please have mercy
Are my words for you my dear master
I can`t do any thing else then holding on to you
in this Storm of worldly thoughts and desires master,
have mercy my master, have mercy on me my dear master
My soul some where know master that you will have mercy on me
the darkness will be replaced with light,
the emptiness will be fulfilled and the soul will be happy again,
and my small attempts to meet you master will be fruit full
as you are holding me tight
and guiding my each step so that it is right
With your mercy & grace AMAN will be what you want HER to be

The Power of Thoughts

One day, a yogi and his disciple arrived to the big city. They had no money with them, but they needed food and a place to stay. The disciple was sure that they were going to beg for their food, and sleep in the park at night.
"There is a big park not far from here. We can sleep there at night", said the disciple. "In the open air?" Asked the yogi."Yes", responded the student.
The yogi smiled and said: "No, tonight we are going to sleep in a hotel and eat there too".
The student was amazed. "How?""Come and sit down", said the yogi.
They both sat down on the ground and the yogi said:"When you focus your mind intently on any subject, it comes to pass."
The yogi closed his eyes and started to meditate with full concentration. After about ten minutes he got up and started to walk, with his disciple following him. They walked through several streets and alleys, until they arrived to a hotel.
"Come, let's enter inside", the yogi said to his disciple.
They just set foot in the entrance, when a well-dressed man approached them.
"I am the manager of this hotel. You look like traveling swamis and I believe you have no money. Would you like to work in the kitchen, and in return I'll give you food and a place to stay?"
"Fine", responded the yogi.
The disciple was perplexed and asked the yogi: "Did you use any magic? How did you do that?"
The yogi smiled and said, "I wanted to show you how the power of thoughts works. When you think with full and strong concentration about something that you want to happen, and your mind does not resist the subject of your thought, your thought materializes."
"The secret is concentrating, visualizing, seeing details, having faith and projecting mental and emotional energy into the mental scene. These are the general prerequisites. When your mind is empty from thoughts, and only one single thought is allowed to enter, it gains a very great power. One should be very careful with what he thinks. A concentrated thought is powerful, and exerts a very strong influence."
The disciple looked at his teacher and said: "I see that I have to sharpen my concentration in order to be able to use this power."
"Yes, this is the first step", responded the yogi.
